1. Presidents report: (TG)
Productive last month. Micro grant from council & Kickstart grant from state gov received. 2 events in approved and in planning stages (GE – Sep, FOR - Nov).Backburning dates changed twice now. Trailbiz still working on Danomite.
Club insurances updated & CovidSafe plans made. Park bookings have now been made for events.
2. Treasurers report (MM)
50k cash in the bank. 40k relates to grants. 2.5k for shirt pre-orders. We still owe 5k for trailbiz which is in the 40k and need an invoice from council for the booking fee. Starting to get a few social members through website plus the MTBA members. Purchases made for event Bunting & Defiib up honour board.
3. Backburn (TG)
Currently Posponed to 3/8 – 10/8.
4. Event updates (TG & GC)
GE: Maxxis QLD Enduro series for 6/9. Most of the event is organised with WhiteLighning arranging rego and 80% of event operations (timing, medic). Club has organised parking and bunting with WB talking to MasterHire for toilets etc.Club will be putting up trophies for Queen Stage. As soon as Rnd 1 sells out, rego will open. Will be calling out for volunteers prior to event with volunteers receiving shuttle passes for services. Easy-up gazebos to be set up for shade for starts with TJM covering us for extras. COVID Safe plan to be followed with event village to be set up accordingly. Rod Hickey locked in to commissaire both events.
FOR: Event set up going smoothly so far. Stages to be released in September to allow for coaching sessions prior to the event occurring. Frenzy Shuttles confirmed for shuttles. Still working on sponsorships for the event with Heritage Bank dropping out. Will likely look to the local bike shops and TRC for support here. Event will be officially launched in the coming week. Adaptive cycling has reached out for potential category – Club to further look into this.
5. Northface/ Skills area (TG)
Skills park: Main project for club remains as the rejuvenation of the skills area at Bridge St including 2 MTB jump lines and small skills area focussing on progression. Easy rider will also re-become its own loop. CORCA have sent through engineered designs for some manmade structures which we will hope to use for this project. Grant for $10K has been approved from state gov. Currently awaiting TRC to sign off on this (potentially post backburn)
North Face: Area north of Centerlink has been coined ‘The North Face’ – to focus on rejuvenating this area. Club has completed extensive work on Ida & Reaper over the last few months. Looking at access over to this area in accordance with the DirtArt Masterplan via trail 22 (Blue traverse from Frenzy triple drops to top of Ida/Calibre/Highlife). Club are looking at volunteer building trails in order to get matched funding for this – as well as sponsorship go fund me etc.
3 Trails are earmarked for the Ida area for club building. (1 single black ascent, 2 descents – 1 black, 1 double black). Prior to this, area is required to be culturally signed off by WWW Tribe & to be audited prior to sign off.
$5K maintenance grant still to be used – Highlife up area to be focussed on with highlife becoming one way with Calibre being the main climb for the area. Also a realignment of the bottom of Viper into Giblets rather than going into the up section of RollerCat.
6. Newsletter (TG)
Newsletter sent via email to members signed up via MTBA. GC called out a change to the ‘Donate or Join’ to be changed to donate only given its current audience. Currently will only be sent to members but may extend moving forward. Possibility of adding in Dirt Angels page in future additions. Club to look into posting newsletter in cabinet in bottom gazebo at Amos Rd.
7. Danomite (TG)
Trail has been audited and works are required before sign off due to new fire road near Harvey St. TrailBiz are completing remediation works ASAP and have liaised with both the Auditor & TRC. Club will confirm once open. Maintenance day will likely assist with getting this trail completed and up to audit guidelines. Dan’s Bell & state gov acknowledgement both in progress.
8. Signage/ Donation QR (TG, WB)
TRC have new trailhead signs going in in coming months with larger club presence. New blue trail signage to be erected once backburn is competed. Club has had QR code stickers made to place on each trail sign which will link to club page for donations/ how to become involved.
9. Sponsorship (TG)
Club looking into getting 10 major sponsors on for a year of sponsorship – still early days around this.
10. Social Rides (TG)
MTBA restrictions are to be followed for any MTB Club social ride. (See MTBA website for exact details) Waiver idea to be looked into to potentially combat this.
11. Merch (WB)
60 shirts sold as at 15/7. Club should make between $800-$1000 which will go straight back into the club. Possibility of re-doing this with a different shirt(s) down the line. Club to also look into bumper stickers again.
12. General Business
Amos Rd being sealed mid-September with works only during weekdays with the road still open on weekends. (LVRC) Reminder that Strava DH round is on weekend of 24-25 July. Maintenance will be pushed to the 2/8 to allow for this.
Meeting closed at 8:38pm.
